Abstract
ROSA, Helena Rinaldi and ALVES, Irai Cristina Boccato. Goodenough-Harris Test normative study in children from the city of São Paulo. Bol. - Acad. Paul. Psicol. [online]. 2014, vol.34, n.87, pp.336-351. ISSN 1415-711X.
The Human Figure Drawing is used to assess child intellectual development and the Goodenough-Harris is internationally, one of the most known and used systems. The purpose of this work is to establish norms for the Goodenough-Harris Test. The sample was composed by 1540 children, from 5 to 11.5 years old of both genders and it was designed to be representative of students from São Paulo city. Children were assessed individually by the Man drawing. Analysis of variables, considering age, sex, type of school (public or private) indicate significant differences between age and sex only in Child Education, but not between the types of school. Average scores progress increasingly with age. Norms are presented in percentiles scores by age and, separated by sex, only for 5 and 6 years old. Results are compared with studies of Harris (1963) and of Alves (1979), with São Paulo preschool children. It is concluded that use of Man's Drawing from Goodenough-Harris Test is adequate to cognitive assessment of São Paulo children and can be used in screening and in psychological assessment.
