LOPES, Bruna Alves; OLIVEIRA JUNIOR, Constantino Ribeiro de e OLIVEIRA, Vera Barros de. Play as an instrument for redeeming the day-to-day of a hospitalized child. Bol. - Acad. Paul. Psicol. [online]. 2015, vol.35, n.88, pp.93-108. ISSN 1415-711X.
The article analyzes the everyday and the functioning of a pediatric hospital toy library in a midsize city of Paraná facing possible power relations existing in the hospital environment in question. According to Foucault and Certeau, the everyday is understood as a space where the micro powers are, at the same time, exercised and teased by the subjects. This research is qualitative in nature and the methodology adopted is the Case Study. A triangulation of techniques is used, as well as sources such as field observation, conducting interviews and documentary analysis. The data show that space and time in the hospital are marked by medical requirements, and the existence of a toy library is still undergoing a tense process in order to become entirely accepted and recognized. The toy library has contributed through free play and other expressive modalities for children to redeem their day-to-day activities, exercise their right of expression, choice and coexistence with other children, and for parents to experience the hospitalization period more positively. The verification by the health staff of the importance of the toy library for the emotional and physical well-being of children has contributed to the recognition of the importance of space and time for playing, for the recovery of health and treatment adherence which points to to the importance of the subjects who act in the everyday at issue so it may become more flexible and socialized
