This article aims to analyze the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic had on the Brazilian people in the educational area, the level of stress, mental health and human values. Data published in recent months regarding the negative changes that occurred in the area of education were analyzed, such as school dropout and performance levels in elementary, secondary and higher education. The impact of the pandemic on the emotional area was also evaluated, discussing how fear and anxiety had the power to create a parallel epidemic of mental disorders, with a significant increase in the prevalence of stress, depression, anxiety and panic attacks. A Brazilian study discussed in this article included 45,161 Brazilian adults and showed that, during the pandemic, 40.4% of the respondents often felt sad or depressed, 52.6% reported being anxious or nervous and 43.5% mentioned the onset of sleep problems, and 48.0% worsened pre-existing sleep problems. Sadness, frequent nervousness and sleep disorders were more present among young adults, women and people with a history of depression. Another Brazilian survey of 3,223 adults who answered an online questionnaire identified high rates of stress (60%), anxiety (57.5%), depression (26%) and panic (14%). A significant association was found between stress and anxiety; stress and depression and stress and panic. In addition, it is discussed how the COVID19 pandemic has impacted the values of our society, changing the way human beings perceive, interpret and feel the world around themselves and their future. Many people concluded that they did not need everything they had and that they could live with much less than they believed necessary in the past. This article also analyzes how some members of society have become disbelievers especially regarding the information provided by social networks.
