This study is documentary in nature and aimed to systematize the types of functional differences among adolescent students in the public school system in Piauí. For this, 57,024 documents were analyzed from the database of the School Management and Inspection Unit/UGIE of the State Department of Education/SEDUC. The Basic Diagnostic Assessment of Student Health was used, which includes data from 663 schools. And as a result, the main demands are related to vision (low acuity and visual impairment), spinal problems, stuttering and Down Syndrome, it was also verified about the use of prostheses/orthotics, surgical procedures, use of continuous medication and carrying out specialized treatments. Realizing a certain disparity between the need and action of public policies to meet such demands, in view of the discrepancy between the functional differences presented by students and their access to essential resources for their full physical, historical and social development, which, in turn, becomes a necessary field of action for Critical School Psychology, considering that it must promote a democratic and emancipatory education.
