GONDIM, Josefa Silvoneide de Lima  e  FORMIGA, Nilton S.. Recycling attitudes and beliefs, satisfaction with the service provided and recycling habits: Verification of a theoretical model in Brazilian families living in Portugal. Bol. - Acad. Paul. Psicol. [online]. 2022, vol.42, n.103, pp.184-196.  Epub 22-Nov-2024. ISSN 1415-711X.  https://doi.org/10.5935/2176-3038.20220019.

For the selection, collection, and reuse programs of recyclable materials (plastic, metal, and glass) to be successful, it is essential that citizens have the usual behavior of separating and disposing of their household waste. The current literature shows evidence of an association between the attitudes and beliefs regarding recycling, along with satisfaction with the service provided, and recycling habits. Therefore, this article aims to analyze the relationship between these variables and verify the level of association between them. A total of 352 people participated in the study, all Brazilian, with 78% women, 31% aged from 26 to 35 years old, 47% with a graduate educational level, 58% were married, with the majority residing in Portugal for more than 3 years. As for the ethical procedures of the research, the criteria established by the Declaration of Helsinki were followed for research involving human beings, requesting voluntary participation. Participants answered the Habit Self-Report Index, Attitude and Recycling Beliefs and Satisfaction with the Service Provided scale, responding on a five-point Likert-type scale. In SPPS 24.0, descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation, frequency), factor analysis of the Principal Components, Guttman Lambda 2, intraclass correlation were performed. In the AMOS Grafics 24.0 program, the Structural Equations were calculated. It was observed that all scales revealed reliable psychometric indicators regarding their factorial organization; in relation to the intended theoretical model, the statistical ratio was within the required range, confirming the hypothesis that the attitude and belief in recycling, satisfaction with the service provided and recycling habits are interdependent constructs.

Palavras-chave : habits; attitude; beliefs; satisfaction; recycling.
