WAYHS, Gabriela Drews y MADER, Bruno Jardini. Groups of adolescents in a Psychosocial Care Center from the perspective of a resident psychologist: experience report. Bol. - Acad. Paul. Psicol. [online]. 2022, vol.42, n.103, pp.212-225. Epub 22-Nov-2024. ISSN 1415-711X. https://doi.org/10.5935/2176-3038.20220021.
The paper discusses the conduction of adolescent groups in a Psychosocial Care Center based on the experience of a resident psychologist in a Multiprofessional Residency program, as well as the importance of psychologists’ training and performance beyond the clinical-individualist logic. This experience report depicts two therapeutic groups offered to adolescents and aims to: (a) characterize, (b) describe, (c) identify difficulties and potentialities, and (d) discuss particularities and effects on the groups for the target population. After that, the discussion was organized into four sections. The first one, “Objectives, organization and planning”, concerns the moments that precede the practice. The second one, “General classification”, indicates the groups’ form and their functioning mode. Following, “Treatment, assessment, and conduct” discusses treatment process of the groups and their members. Finally, “Conduction and management of the therapist”, addresses the experiences and decisions made by the resident during the group meetings. The potential that group therapy offers is considered, despite its limitations. In order to improve the services provided to adolescents, it is important to develop institutionalized spaces in mental health care devices to rethink the work with groups and not enter into a scenario of thoughtless practices.
