COSTA, Jeniffer Ferreira et al. Influence of physical activity and self-perception of affects and well-being in aging. Bol. - Acad. Paul. Psicol. [online]. 2023, vol.43, n.104, pp.10-17.  Epub 22-Nov-2024. ISSN 1415-711X.  https://doi.org/10.5935/2176-3038.20230002.

The study aimed to analyze the influence of physical activity and self-perception of affects on the level of well-being in the elderly. A cross-sectional study of correlational character evaluated 77 individuals aged 58 years or more, of both genders, using the following instruments: sociodemographic questionnaire, in order to carry out a survey of the participant’s profile; Positive and Negative Affects Scale, to identify the frequency of feelings and emotions; the reduced version of the Psychological Well-Being Scale, which investigates aspects related to the individual’s well-being construct; and the short version of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire, which measures an individual’s level of physical activity. The results obtained in this study demonstrate a good association between the measures of positive and negative affect, well-being and physical activity, which, when properly practiced, can promote positive emotions and feelings that tend to raise the level of well-being in elderly people, as well as in the quality of life of these people. In conclusion, it is possible to inquire about the importance of the practice of physical activity in promoting well-being in the elderly, but that it is necessary to establish interventional programs that involve the practice of physical activity in an appropriate manner for the elderly population, as well as considering their expectations and needs, making this activity pleasurable to the person and providing pleasant experiences in order to promote their well-being.
