Studies show that black women have a higher rate of obstetric violence and maternal mortality, which may reflect in inequalities in access to and use of health services, making it necessary to look at black motherhood and the social, historical and political disadvantages that this population faces. face. Therefore, this article aimed to understand how black women evaluate the health care received during pregnancy and childbirth. This is a descriptive, exploratory and crosssectional study, with a qualitative approach, carried out with 16 self-declared black or mixed-race postpartum women in a university hospital that is a reference for high-risk pregnancies. For data collection, a questionnaire with sociodemographic and obstetric variables was used plus a script for a semi-structured interview. The participants signed the Free and Informed Consent Form, respecting all ethical criteria contained in Resolutions 466/12 and 510/16 of the National Health Council. The results were analyed using Bardin’s content analysis, giving rise to the following categories: pregnancy marked by symptoms; health care in the evaluation of black women and the non-recognition of racism. It is concluded that the evaluation of health care from the perspective of black women was mostly satisfactory and the lack of recognition of the experience of racism was predominant.
