BORBA, Júlia Cunha de e REICHOW, Jeverson Rogério Costa. Spirituality, psychotherapy and mental health: overview of Brazilian studies. Bol. - Acad. Paul. Psicol. [online]. 2024, vol.44, n.107, pp.146-158. Epub 02-Dez-2024. ISSN 1415-711X. https://doi.org/10.5935/10.5935/2176-3038.20240019.
In psychotherapy, the psychologist is a facilitator in the process of self-knowledge and autonomy. For this process to take place, all aspects of the patient's life must be taken into account. It is now understood that issues of religiosity/spirituality have great influence on people's behavior and thoughts. The general objective of this paper was to understand how religiosity/spirituality is related to mental health, understanding how it influences quality of life, how it impacts mental health and understanding why it should be addressed in psychotherapy. For this, a bibliographic review was carried out with six articles published in recent five years that fit the inclusion and exclusion criteria of the methodology. The article was divided into introduction, bibliographical contributions, method, results, discussion and conclusion. In general, the works studied reflect the importance of investigating the subject, since they consider it a tool to help in coping with stressful situations and a great influence on the mental health and quality of life of the subjects.
