BOVENZO FILHO, Carlos Eduardo e MAIA, Mylena de Almeida. Personality assessment through expressive behavior: a literature review. Bol. - Acad. Paul. Psicol. [online]. 2024, vol.44, n.107, pp.182-193. Epub 02-Dez-2024. ISSN 1415-711X. https://doi.org/10.5935/2176-3038.20240015.
This article consisted of a literature review, which implies the search for published materials relevant to the researched subject, personality assessment through expressive behavior. TThe objective was to understand expressive behavior and to highlight how expressive techniques and tests are currently being discussed, and also to provide an insight into how they favor and foster psychological assessment in terms of investigating personality characteristics. The concepts of Psychological Assessment were addressed and, in a second moment, the different perspectives in understanding the Personality construct were exposed. Further on, the concept of Expressive Behavior was discussed in detail, as well as studies that involved the different tests and expressive techniques. Of the few existing expressive instruments, the Palographic is the test that tends to be heavily used, supporting the practice of Psychological Assessment with an emphasis on personality. Despite this, Brazil currently lacks research in the field of expressive tests and techniques, which leaves few alternatives for professionals who seek, when composing their psychological assessment process, the use of an expressive test or, alternatively, greater support on the interpretation and understanding of the expressive processes contained in drawings. Therefore, it is extremely important to focus more on research by the scientific community of Psychology, in order to promote support for the resources that professionals seek to carry out the psychological assessment of personality.
