CHAVES, Alfredo Mendes et al. Aggression in university students with borderline personality disorder assessed through R-PAS. Bol. - Acad. Paul. Psicol. [online]. 2025, vol.45, n.108, pp.12-27. Epub 07-Nov-2025. ISSN 1415-711X. https://doi.org/10.5935/2176-3038.20250009.
This study investigates aggression in university students diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) using the Rorschach Performance Assessment System (R-PAS). A case analysis of nine individuals identified through the E-TRAP instrument sought to understand how aggression-related variables (AGC, AGM, MOR, MAP, and SC-Comp) manifest in the projective protocol. Although most scores remained within normative ranges, the qualitative analysis of verbalizations revealed expressive contents - such as images of bodily fragmentation, predators, parasites, and disguised forms of violence - pointing to psychological distress, defensive mechanisms, and experiences of disintegration of the self. The presence of attenuation strategies, such as the use of diminutives and personal justifications, as well as the discrepancy between quantitative data and response content, reinforces the importance of a clinically attuned interpretive approach. The study concludes that R-PAS, combined with interpretive analysis, is a valuable tool for capturing indirect modes of aggressive expression in BPD, contributing to more nuanced assessments and more effective interventions.
