LOPES, Francielle de Souza; SOARES, Nandra e MOMBELLIR, Monica Augusta. Evidence-based practice in Psychology courses in Brazil: a documentary study. Bol. - Acad. Paul. Psicol. [online]. 2025, vol.45, n.108, pp.61-71. Epub 07-Nov-2025. ISSN 1415-711X. https://doi.org/10.5935/2176-3038.20250005.
The practice of Evidence-Based Psychology (EBP) aims to integrate the best available research, the clinician's professional experience, and the context of the patient's characteristics, culture, and preferences. The National Curriculum Guidelines for Psychology courses emphasize the relevance of scientific knowledge for professionals to develop the competencies needed to critically and reflectively assess their clinical practice. Therefore, this documentary research aimed to analyze the presence of the Evidence-Based Psychology (EBP) discipline in the curricula of Psychology courses in Brazil. Data collection took place in April 2025, based on information from the Ministry of Education and document analysis available on the websites of educational institutions. The results show that most courses do not offer this discipline. Stratified analysis by region revealed that the South region led proportionally, with 2.01% of the analyzed curricula offering the discipline, followed by the Center-West (1.90%), Northeast (1.65%), North (1.25%), and Southeast (1.23%). Therefore, it is suggested that academic curricula for Psychology courses be reviewed, as well as the inclusion of the EBP discipline, considering a training that ensures scientifically proven interventions, contributing to the quality and effectiveness of professional practice.
