LEMOS, Suziani de Cássia Almeida; CHATELARD, Daniela Scheinkman  e  BRASIL, Katia Cristina Tarouquella. Psychosomatics and trauma: the subject facing the unrepresentable. Estilos clin. [online]. 2021, vol.26, n.3, pp.584-595.  Epub 07-Nov-2025. ISSN 1415-7128.  https://doi.org/10.11606/issn.1981-1624.v26i3p584-595.

The present study seeks to articulate the concepts of trauma and psychosomatics based on the differentiation between the formation of the hysterical symptom and what appears predominantly in contemporary clinic as a psychosomatic phenomenon. When analyzing the triggers of psychosomatic illnesses from psychoanalysis, trauma appears as an important element in the formation of symptoms, as it causes the crushing of the child's nascent psyche and the consequent compromise to their psychic constitution. The symbolic fragility established by the traumatic would make it impossible to metabolize or represent the experiences, operating symptomatic formations marked by the imprisonment of these experiences in the subject's own body. In this sense, the notion of the unrepresentable emerges as a fundamental theoretical-clinical element to think about psychosomatic phenomena nowadays.

Palavras-chave : psychoanalysis; body; psychosomatic; trauma; unrepresentable.
