GOMES, Louise e LEE, Henrique. Support for COVID-19 grief in the Brazilian public hospital context: a systematic review. Rev. SBPH [online]. 2024, vol.27, e004. Epub 03-Fev-2025. ISSN 1516-0858. https://doi.org/10.57167/rev-sbph.v27.524.
With the pandemic in Brazil, the experience of mass losses led to complex grief processes. For the healthcare sector, reorganizing services became a challenge in the context of social distancing and work overload. In this regard, to understand the health promotion scenario related to COVID-19 bereavement, a survey of grief support interventions implemented in Brazilian public hospital settings during 2020 and 2021 was conducted. A systematic literature review was performed using searches on the SciELO, PePsic, BVS/LILACS, Capes Periodicals, DOAJ, and Google Scholar platforms. The most frequently used strategy to minimize emotional impacts was active listening, enabled through welcoming practices and emotional support. The use of Information and Communication Technologies also proved to be an essential resource, highlighting the importance of alternative measures in emergency contexts. Additionally, anticipatory grief emerged as a central issue due to restrictions on hospital visits and limited opportunities for farewells. Finally, to support potential adjustments in healthcare delivery, it is essential to continue research aimed at understanding the phenomenon of covid-19 grief and mapping related interventions.
