Burnout syndrome (BS) is a chronic work-related stress disorder with increased prevalence among healthcare professionals during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study evaluated 157 nurses from Intensive Care Units (ICUs) in Porto Velho, Rondônia, using the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Human Services Survey (MBI-HSS), which assesses levels of emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and professional accomplishment. Most participants were female (80.9%), with a mean age of 35.94 years. BS was identified in 51.6% of cases, with high emotional exhaustion (58.0%), depersonalization (36.9%), and professional accomplishment (45.2%) at medium levels. Statistical analysis was performed with SPSS software and included the chi-square test and multinomial logistic regression, revealing that emotional exhaustion was associated with factors such as being female, living alone, working in emergency situations, and working overtime. Depersonalization was primarily associated with women, while professional fulfillment highlighted factors such as middle age, having children, and emergency institutional ties. This study emphasizes the importance of improving working conditions and greater attention to nurses’ mental health by public authorities, especially during the pandemic.
