This is a qualitative study based on a critical review of scientific literature from virtual databases. This study aimed to analyze the role of Hospital Psychology in managing chronic diseases during hospitalization, considering the emotional, physical, and social impacts involved in this process. It is a qualitative research developed through an integrative literature review carried out on nationally and internationally recognized research platforms. Descriptors related to Hospital Psychology, chronic diseases, and hospitalization were used, following previously established inclusion and exclusion criteria. The analysis showed that hospital psychologists play a fundamental role in sensitive listening, conflict mediation, and promoting psychological coping in the face of chronic conditions and hospitalization. Their work strengthens the emotional well-being of patients and families, enhances treatment adherence, and contributes to the humanization of care. However, psychological practice still faces challenges, such as limited institutional recognition and the predominance of a biomedical model. It is concluded that Hospital Psychology is essential to comprehensive care, as it integrates psychological and social dimensions of illness, broadens the understanding of suffering, and fosters more humanized interventions within hospital settings.
