This article, inserted in the area of Social Psychology of Work, aims to discuss the meanings of the work produced by Literacy Cycle teachers, from the perspective of Historical-Cultural Psychology. For this purpose, semi-structured interviews, observations in the school routine and photographic records were carried out with three teachers from the Literacy Cycle of a school in the Brazilian municipal education network. The analysis movement was based on the proposal of the Meaning Nuclei. Three core meanings were constituted, namely: articulations between work and education in the teachers’ lives, teaching work and its forms of expression and teaching work in relation. In general, subjects constitute their doing and being a teacher according to the senses and meanings they produce and reproduce in their pedagogical activities gestated in capitalist logic. Thus, the meanings of work produced by the subjectsare articulated with their current teaching activity, with their work and educational trajectories and with the relationships they establish with their peers.
