COSTA, Beatriz Camilo Araujo dos Santos e ZANINI, Daniela Sacramento. Sensitivity and specificity of psychological instruments in the assessment of attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder: a systematic review study. Cad. Pós-Grad. Distúrb. Desenvolv. Systematically review studies regarding the sensitivity and specificity of psychological instruments in the assessment of ADHD. A systematic review was carried out, using PRISMA, by searching national and international databases on the Capes Platform, with the terms ADHD/sensitivity and specificity, without the selection of specific databases. The search was restricted to publications from the last five years (2014-2019). Inclusion criteria were: psychological assessment articles on ADHD with children; empirical articles published in a Brazilian or foreign magazine; peer-reviewed. The exclusion criteria were repeated articles, with the presence of comorbidities. The final sample consisted of two articles. The low index of publications regarding the sensitivity and specificity of instruments in psychological assessments for ADHD was found, despite the large number of studies related to the disorder in the last five years. Selected studies described the use of the ROC curve as a procedure for analyzing sensitivity and specificity, with the aim of reducing diagnostic biases. There were no instruments used in psychological assessments related to ADHD. Studies presented the use of the electroencephalogram and the development of a brief instrument for the disorder as a central axis, respectively, in a multidisciplinary team. There was a need for investment in the construction of sensitive and specific psychological instruments for diagnostic procedures in ADHD cases, considering that the studies found in a systematic review mention the medical and multiprofessional areas.
