Abstract

FORESTI, TAIMARA; PRESOTTO, GABRIELLE CRISTINE; BOUSFIELD, ANDRÉA BARBARÁ DA SILVA  and  JUSTO, ANA MARIA. The concept of ableism in national articles: a theoretical study. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2024, vol.24, e23909.  Epub Aug 23, 2024. ISSN 2175-1390.  https://doi.org/10.5935/2175-1390.v24e23909.

This study aims to identify how the concept of ableism is described and used in articles published in scientific journals. The systematic search for articles took place rigorously on October 28, 2021 and on January 5, 2022, covering the entire year of 2021, in the following databases: Scopus, Periódicos CAPES, BVS-Psi, LILACS, SciELO. The term “ableism” was used. Based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, eight final articles were selected. These were analyzed in a descriptive and qualitative way, according to the categories: (a) year/author; (b) concept used. The results and discussions suggest that there is a theoretical gap in terms of scientific productions that use a concept based on ableism. Furthermore, the importance and urgency of incorporating the theme of disability intersected with other categories of analysis is highlighted, based on studies on ableism in Brazil.
