This article aims to analyze how the concepts of care, dependence and interdependence, which were brought to the field of Disability Studies by feminist theorists, can contribute to the role of psychologists who work at the Social Assistance Reference Center (CRAS) with people with disabilities. This article is part of a master’s thesis. Nine psychologists who work at CRAS in a municipality in Rio Grande do Sul were interviewed. Method used was the semi-structured interview and the data were subjected to Bardin’s Content Analysis. The results indicate the presence of familial logic in the Social Assistance Policy and point out the gender roles involved in care. It is concluded that the psychologist’s role in Social Assistance Policy, based on the concepts of the Ethic of Care, can contribute to advancing the understanding of care as social justice.
