Abstract

VIANNA, KEYTH; BRITO, MONIQUE; TREBISACCE, DANDARA  and  TSALLIS, ALEXANDRA. Stories from a clinical device: a letter to the ableism that inhabits us. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2024, vol.24, e24518.  Epub May 14, 2024. ISSN 2175-1390.  https://doi.org/10.5935/2175-1390.v24e24518.

This text-letter was produced based on clinical consultations carried out with blind and visually impaired people, developed at the Benjamin Constant Institute, in Rio de Janeiro/RJ, Brazil. The affects generated called us to (re)cognize the ableism that inhabits us and performs excluding and oppressive practices. With the field diaries records of this clinical and research experience, we have discussed the possibility of the (re)inventing existence in the face of the challenges of seeing and not seeing in an ableist society. Through the theoretical-methodological approach of the Actor-Network Theory (ANT), its proposal to monitor actants, their actions and connections, as well as the articulation with science in the feminine and our intention to produce knowledge that transforms the world, we share scenes, questions, crossings that mobilize us, questioning our role as people with and without visual impairment in the social (de)construction of ableism.

Keywords : Ableism; Clinical devices, Science in the feminine; Visual impairment; Letters.
