Abstract

The aim of this review was to examine empirical studies that worked with the various themes proposed by political psychology in Brazil. The databases Lilacs, Scielo, Pepsic, Jstor, Psycinfo, Scopus and the Revista Psicologia Política were tracked in May 2018. The keyword “Political Psychology” was used, and the strings “Psychology and Politics” and “Political Psychology and Brazil” in the languages of the bases. 438 articles were located, and 19 were analyzed after the application of the PRISMA method. Among these,, 15 (78,9%) were qualitative studies, 3 (15,8%) quantitative and 1 (5,3%) mixed. The thematic axes proposed for grouping the articles were called Politicized Clinic, Political Behavior and Brazilian Military Dictatorship. The results reinforce the need to implement research in this field, diversifying the scope of studies and the methods used for analysis.
