Studying white racial identity is a necessity in the quest to dismantle structural racism. The aim of this researchwas to understand the perception of self-declared white people about the influence of racial condition on the formation of their identity. Four self-declared white men, belonging to the middle/upper class, aged between 40 and 52 years old, who studied at a private school in the city of Florianópolis, were interviewed. This is a qualitative, exploratory field research, with semi-structured interviews, which adopted the interpretation of meanings as an analysis method. In the study carried out, spaces in the city were divided along racial lines, whether in positions of greater economic power or in the distribution of the city itself, which perpetuates what Achille Mbembe calls “necropolitics”. Even so, it was possible to identify movements of microrevolution, people who give new meaning to their whiteness and seek to break with the existing narcissistic pact, which makes it possible to think about the concept of narcissistic depart.
