This article aims to create a kind of genealogy of the issue of violence in contemporary times. It explores some of its aspects through the Freudian concept of the uncanny, from the dimension of relationships between subjects to the broader social sphere. In doing so, it reflects on the self-centeredness of the neoliberal subject, which tends to exclude otherness as a value. In this sense, it updates the debate on the narcissism of small differences, considering the social effects of this mode of relationship. Finally, the article reflects on perverse discourse in opposition to a perverse structure, considering how this discourse can compose contemporary social grammars.
