Abstract

CUNHA, VIVANE MARTINS; ALVES, JULIA SOMBERG  and  MOREIRA, LISANDRA ESPÍNDULA. Black genocide and public security: extermination policy in police actions. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2025, vol.25, e23714.  Epub May 02, 2025. ISSN 2175-1390.  https://doi.org/10.5935/2175-1390.v25e23714.

In view of the continuity and intensification of the genocidal public security policy in Brazil, we analyzed fragments of three cases that occurred between 2019 and 2021: the death of the young black man Willian Augusto da Silva, the Jacarezinho massacre and the murder of the young black man Ryan Pablo da Silva Martins Ribeiro. The cases were chosen both due to their repercussion in the national news, such as the cases that happened in Rio de Janeiro, and in their local context, in the case of Belo Horizonte, allowing us to reflect on common aspects, as well as some of their particularities, in dialogue with the concepts of black genocide and anti-blackness. Thus, we question the colonial legacy that serves as the basis for the maintenance of the Brazilian anti-black genocide and its intensification in the current scenario. This is the theoretical-methodological path that we chose to follow in order to analyze the advance of genocidal barbarity against black communities, whose main perpetrator is the State.
