DIAMANTINO, DORA TEIXEIRA. Subjective meanings of violence constructed by girls in deprivation of freedom. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2025, vol.25, e24074. Epub 18-Jul-2025. ISSN 2175-1390. https://doi.org/10.5935/2175-1390.v25e24074.
This study aimed to understand the subjective meanings constructed by girls deprived of freedom about the experiences of violence experienced throughout their lives. The analyzes were guided by the Historical-Cultural Psychology approach, based on the Theory of Subjectivity developed by Fernando González Rey. Thus, narrative interviews were carried out with three female adolescents housed in a socio-educational detention unit. The analysis procedure was based on the formation of nuclei of meaning. Through the narratives, it was found that intrafamily and gender-based violence are connected with violence perpetrated by the State. This indicates that violence will not be resolved through the policy of mass incarceration, given that such logic contributes to the vulnerability of poor girls, especially black girls, with regard to intrafamily and gender-based violence and vice versa.
