This article analyzes the meanings attributed by a Venezuelan woman-mother to her own and her family’s experiences in the context of involuntary migration. A case study was conducted based on the story of a Venezuelan woman who initially settled in Boa Vista/RR and later moved to Florianópolis/SC. The analysis was carried out from the theoretical-methodological perspective of “analysis of discursive practices and production of meanings” (Spink & Medrado, 2013). In the narrative temporality analyzed, the following themes stood out: “decision” to emigrate; transnational motherhood; first arrival in Brazil and border experiences in Boa Vista/RR; second migration and arrival in Florianópolis/SC. Involuntary migration is considered to refer not only to a geographical displacement, but also to a movement of subjectivation. The narrative analyzed expresses a living testimony of the precariousness of the political and socioeconomic conditions of many Latin American people in a migratory situation.
