Abstract

MILOTI, Júlia; FERNANDES, Tharssa Karolynie da Silva Negreiros  and  LEITAO, Iagor Brum. Madness, abuse of psychoactive substances and dangerousness: perceptions of CAPS professionals. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2025, vol.25, e25265.  Epub Dec 01, 2025. ISSN 2175-1390.  https://doi.org/10.5935/2175-1390.v25e25265.

The aim was to analyze the conceptions of professionals working in a CAPS I and a CAPSad regarding the interconnection between madness, psychoactive substance abuse, and dangerousness. The data were analyzed using Descending Hierarchical Classification (DHC), enabled by the IRaMuTeQ software. The results indicate that the opinions were divided regarding the possible relationship between madness and dangerousness, and psychoactive substance abuse and dangerousness. The association between madness and dangerousness made by CAPS I professionals points to situations in which patients are in crisis. Meanwhile, CAPS ad professionals, on the other hand, associated this with specific situations, such as when one is under the influence of substance use or withdrawal. It is concluded that many paradigms still need to be broken for the care provided to users to be appropriate and in line with the ideals of Psychiatric Reform.

Keywords : Madness; CAPS I; CAPS ad; Substance; Dangerousness.
