VIDAL, Gabriela Pereira; GIACOMOZZI, Andréia Isabel; GOMES, Marcela de Andrade  and  SANTOS, Maria Eugenia Lopes dos. We are kings, bro: study of social representations of society in brazilian rap. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2025, vol.25, e25350.  Epub Dec 08, 2025. ISSN 2175-1390.  https://doi.org/10.5935/2175-1390.v25e25350.

Music, like other forms of art, presents a portrait of society. This research aimed to understand the meanings of Brazilian society manifested in rap lyrics, how these become tangible, and the experiences associated with these processes. This was an inductive documentary study, using 45 song lyrics, subjected to content analysis by two judges using Atlas.ti. The experiences described reflect violence through social memory and appeared linked to processes of objectification and anchoring. Personification figures were also prominently use as forms of identification and recognition of possibilities of resistance.

Keywords : Music; Society; Social Representation.
