This study originated from an academic project proposed by the Psychology program at the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG)/RS. After encountering three works by the researcher Liliam Deisy Ghizoni (Ghizoni, 2013; Ghizoni & Mendes, 2014; Maciel & Ghizoni, 2020), interest in discussing the topic of “Unrecognized Working Hours”, the focus of this dialogue, increased. This interview, conducted on November 28, 2023, aimed to analyze the professional’s qualitative research and explore her academic trajectory in Social Psychology of Work. The narratives provided in this material are highly relevant to the study of the psychological aspects of the working hours and the suffering of the Brazilian proletariat, as well as their considerations on the future of Psychology research, possible coping strategies based on the impacts on the mental health of these employees, and a critique of mental illness in universities.
