Abstract

TRINDADE, Gabriela  and  DIAMANTINO, Rui Maia. Transference Love: a case study based on TV series In Treatment. Cogito [online]. 2013, vol.14, pp.49-57. ISSN 1519-9479.

This paper discusses some aspects of transference love and countertransference from episodes of American TV series In Treatment involving the patient (Laura) and her psychoanalyst (Paul). It is considered that although the filmic fiction does not give the necessary elements for the analysis of a clinical case, the content depicted in In Treatment does not distance itself from the desire issues the analyst might face in the relationship with their patients. This approach unfolds a number of issues that still need to be developed by those that practice Psychoanalysis in the place of the analyst.
