The author put forward an extensive view of criminal rehabilitation, under the historical and juridical point of view. Resides the legal and strict conceptions, were exposed historical views, which brought into the international context, the signification of legal rehabilitation and its contemporary social application. In the same way, are considered issues related to a legal process, guidance of the rehabilitation in the present Brazilian legislation and the perspectives of social insertion of the person who egresses from the penitentiary system.
