This article aims to give some subsidies to think about child under psychoanalysis optics. It shows a brief course by occidental history, indicating how the idea and concept of child and childhood have been changed according to visions of world particular to a given time and place. It comes until Freud. He, with psychoanalysis, opens a unknown field of investigation and bring to light a very peculiar conception of child, that affects a given idealization of child and childhood and contests social, cultural, religious and scientific taboos.
