Abstract

SPADARI, Gabriela Fabbro; NAKANO, Tatiana de Cássia  and  OLIVEIRA, Karina da Silva. Scale of Creative Potential at Work: evidence of validity through internal structure and reliability. Aval. psicol. [online]. 2023, vol.22, n.2, pp.125-133.  Epub Aug 23, 2024. ISSN 1677-0471.  https://doi.org/10.15689/ap.2023.2202.20659.02.

The study presents the results of two studies to investigate the psychometric qualities of a scale for assessing creativity at work. Study 1 examined validity evidence based on the instrument's internal structure and reliability in a sample of 552 participants (M=34.8 years; SD=10.9). Confirmatory Factor Analysis indicated a structure composed of two factors: Factor 1, Blockages and barriers to creativity, and Factor 2, Attributes and characteristics that favor creativity. Reliability was .79 and .77, respectively. Study 2 investigated the relationship with external variables of the convergent type, comparing the result with the Verbal Torrance Test of Creative Thinking. Fifty participants (M=32.96 years; SD=11.47) responded to both instruments. The results showed only a weak, significant, and negative correlation (r=.293, p=.045) between factor 1 and the Verbal Creative Index 2, which represents the total score of the part of the instrument that covers the cognitive and emotional characteristics of creativity. Overall, the study found positive evidence for the scale.
