This study aimed to present sound psychometric evidence ofvalidity for the Three-Factor Scale of Social Identity in the context of public security in Brazil, establishing a proposal for a measure of professional identity, based on Social Identity Theory. Participants were 15,187 public security professionals from across the Brazilian regions, from different corporations, with a mean age or 39.93 years (SD = 7.70). Validity evidence corroborated the three-factor structure proposed by the theory, with adequate reliability indices, measured by Jöreskog’s Rho, these being .91 for Centrality, .96 for Affection, and .89 for Ties. The indicators demonstrated robust psychometric fits, maintaining the proposed structure. The instrument supports the evaluation of the identity of police professionals from different corporations, a necessary condition for the development of management policies and practices in Brazilian public security.
