Abstract

REPPOLD, Caroline Tozzi  and  BANDEIRA, Denise Ruschel. Who finds psychological tests useful? Reflections on the practice of psychological assessment after ADI 3481. Aval. psicol. [online]. 2023, vol.22, n.4, pp.327-335.  Epub Dec 02, 2024. ISSN 1677-0471.  https://doi.org/10.15689/ap.2023.2204.25098.02.

The use of psychological tests precedes the regulation of the psychology profession in Brazil, demonstrating a long-standing interest from other fields in the assessment of psychological phenomena. However, a 1962 law established that only the Psychology profession could use psychological methods and techniques for certain activities. Over the years, the relevance and exclusivity of test usage have been challenged many times in the country. This article aims to update the discussion on psychological assessment practices and the use of psychological tests in Brazil and other countries, considering the context following ADI 3481. It explores possibilities for multidisciplinary dialogue and presents a proposal for enhancing the qualification of the test usage.

Keywords : psychological tests; psychological assessment; ADI 3481.
