Abstract
BERRONDO, Bárbara Aires Borges et al. Psychometric properties study of the Brazilian version of the Activism and Radicalism Intention Scale. Aval. psicol. [online]. 2024, vol.23, n.2, pp.233-241. Epub Dec 02, 2024. ISSN 1677-0471. https://doi.org/10.15689/ap.2024.2302.10.
Brazil’s recent political crises have been deeply polarizing and have triggered the radicalization of some individuals. The psychometric validation of instruments that allow for the accurate evaluation of political behavior is increasingly necessary in the current context. Using data collected from 389 participants, this study presents evidence of the psychometric properties of the Activism and Radicalism Intention Scale within the Brazilian context. An exploratory factor analysis (EFA) revealed a two-factor structure, with both factors having high factor loadings and no cross-loading. Reliability, factor structure replicability, and fit indices were deemed adequate. The results indicate the suitability of the instrument for the Brazilian context and support findings from previous studies. It is hoped that this work will contribute to a deeper understanding of radicalism in Brazil.
