LIMA, Maria Clara Moreira de e NATIVIDADE, Jean Carlos. Emotional Investment Scale: Elaboration, Validity Evidence and Reliability. Aval. psicol. [online]. 2025, vol.24, e22192. Epub 09-Jun-2025. ISSN 1677-0471. https://doi.org/10.15689/ap.2025.24.e22192.
Emotional investment concerns how individuals invest in loving relationships encompassing attributes such as romance, care, and affection. Despite its significance as a marker of individual differences, the scientific literature lacks instruments to measure Emotional Investment. This study aimed to develop and seek validity evidence for an instrument to assess Emotional Investment. A total of 769 Brazilians from the five regions of the country participated. The results revealed that the Emotional Investment Scale has a two-factor structure (Romanticism; Affection) and demonstrates adequate reliability. Correlations with other variables aligned with theoretical expectations, such as a negative correlation with Avoidance in attachment. The instrument presented satisfactory evidence of validity based on content, internal structure, and relationships with other variables. This scale can serve as a valuable tool in research and clinical contexts, particularly in studies on romantic relationships.
