MACHADO, Flavia Amaral et al. Multidisciplinary Battery for Screening Child Development: Evidence of Criterion Validity and Reliability of Language Test (TDI-L). Aval. psicol. [online]. 2025, vol.24, e22893. Epub 09-Jun-2025. ISSN 1677-0471. https://doi.org/10.15689/ap.2025.24.e22893.
This study aimed to present the estimating accuracy and validity evidence based on relationships with other variables of the language assessment instrument (TDI-L), part of the Multidisciplinary Battery for Screening Child Development assessment for children in early schooling. Participants were 382 children, aged 6 to 8 years, from Porto Alegre. The instruments assessed were the TDI-L, the Phonological Awareness Test by Oral Production (PCFO), and the Reading Processes Assessment Tests (PROLEC). The estimating accuracy demonstrated adequate values for phonological awareness and good internal consistency for writing, reading, and text interpretation. The test presented a moderate correlation (r=.69; p<.001) with the PCFO and moderate to strong correlations with the PROLEC in writing (r=.83; p<.001), reading (r=.76; p<.001), and text interpretation (r=.67; p<.001) tasks. These findings suggest that the TDI-L may be a viable alternative for language screening in children in early schooling.
