NATIVIDADE, Jean Carlos e CAUMO, Gabriel Ramos. Psychometric Properties of the Exclusivity in Relationships Scale. Aval. psicol. [online]. 2025, vol.24, e23436. Epub 15-Set-2025. ISSN 1677-0471. https://doi.org/10.15689/ap.2025.24.e23436.
Exclusivity in relationships refers to the tendency to engage in a committed, monogamous, and faithful romantic relationship. It is one of the seven factors that make up the sexy-seven model of human sexuality. In this model, the factors of sexuality are relatively stable individual characteristics, similar to personality traits. The present study aimed to develop a scale to measure Relationship Exclusivity and to evaluate its validity and reliability. A total of 797 Brazilians from the country’s five regions participated in the research, with a mean age of 28.1 years. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses revealed a two-factor structure for the instrument: Fidelity and Monogamy. Correlations with other constructs, as theoretically expected, were also observed, such as negative correlations with attachment avoidance, sociosexuality, and neuroticism. The instrument demonstrated satisfactory evidence of validity and reliability, proving to be a valuable tool for the field of sexuality and romantic relationships.
