CARDOSO, Nicolas de Oliveira y MACHADO, Wagner de Lara. Development of the Investors Cognitive Distortions Inventory: pilot study. Aval. psicol. [online]. 2025, vol.24, e23806. Epub 15-Sep-2025. ISSN 1677-0471. https://doi.org/10.15689/ap.2025.24.e23806.
Cognitive distortions (CDs) can impact human decision-making; however, no instruments exist for measuring CDs in investors. Accordingly, this study developed the Equity Investors Cognitive Distortions Inventory (EICDI) and assessed its preliminary content validity and internal consistency. The study followed an eight-step process: 1. literature review, 2. selection of an instrument validated in Brazil, 3. obtaining adaptation permission, 4. adaptation and validation of items, 5 and 6. expert evaluation, 7. pilot study, and 8. expert review of the 4th version. This final version was tested with 39 Brazilian investors, who recommended the removal of certain items. After removing the items, the instrument showed strong content validity (Finn = 1.00) and internal consistency (α = .94).
