MIRANDA, Bruner de Morais; OLIVEIRA-SILVA, Ligia Carolina  e  ZARIFE, Pricila de Sousa. Adaptation and Evidence of Validity for the Short Grit Scale. Aval. psicol. [online]. 2025, vol.24, e24473.  Epub 15-Set-2025. ISSN 1677-0471.  https://doi.org/10.15689/ap.2025.24.e24473.

This study aimed to adapt the Short Grit Scale for the Brazilian context and assess its internal structure validity. The sample consisted of 225 individuals between 18 and 66 years of age (M=31.9; SD=10.11), most of whom were women (57.8%) with a college degree (61.4%). Confirmatory factor analysis showed that the Short Grit Scale had good fit indices (χ2=48.60[19]; CFI=.93; GFI=.95; TLI=.91; RMSEA=.08) and maintained the hierarchical structure composed of two first-order dimensions (consistency of interests and perseverance of effort). The scale also demonstrated satisfactory internal consistency, with reliability indices ranging from .70 to .78. These findings indicate that the adapted version of the Short Grit Scale is a valid tool for use in the Brazilian context, providing a promising resource for analyzing motivational aspects of behavior in challenging tasks and for planning relevant interventions in educational, therapeutic, and professional settings.
