CARVALHO, Tatiana Oliveira de e NAKANO, Tatiana de Cássia. Influence of Quilombola Culture on Creative Performance: An exploratory analysis. Aval. psicol. [online]. 2025, vol.24, n.spe1, e25271. Epub 05-Set-2025. ISSN 1677-0471. https://doi.org/10.15689/ap.2025.24.e25271.
As creativity is influenced by both environmental and cultural factors, this study investigated the influence of Quilombola culture on creative performance. The sample consisted of 149 high school students from the State of Maranhão, aged 14 to 39 years (M=17.6; SD=3.6), 57.71% of whom were female. Of the participants, 47.65% attended public schools in São Luís and 52.35 % attended Quilombola public schools in Alcântara. The Figural Creativity Test, Adolescent and Adult Version (TCF-AA) was administered. A comparison of the scores between students from São Luis and those from Quilombola communities, using the mean difference test, revealed no significant differences across the test’s assessed factors. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the Quilombola context and highlight the need for appropriate conditions to support the development of this population’s creative potential.
