OLIVEIRA, Jamille Cavalcante de; NASCIMENTO, Caroline Brandão e CARDOSO, Lucila Moraes. Therapeutic Assessment with Adolescents: Adaptations for the Institutional Care Context. Aval. psicol. Institutional foster care is a protective measure for children and adolescents in situations of threat or violation of their rights, which may result in placement in substitute families or foster care institutions. These institutions are collective environments that also require spaces for attending to the individuality of adolescents. The Therapeutic Assessment with Adolescents (TA-A) offers a possibility for individualized care aimed at promoting positive change. This study aimed to analyze the feasibility of conducting TA-A processes in institutional care. Two adolescents, aged 12 and 14 years, participated in the process. The findings indicate that the adolescents felt welcomed and respected during the TA-A, and one of them showed improvements in depressive and anxiety symptoms. The conclusion is that the TA-A can be used in the context of institutional care, provided that adaptations are made to certain stages of the process, always ensuring protection and respect for the adolescents’ individual identity.
