Bareback pornography refers to sexual practice without a condom and represents the most consumed category of pornography on the internet. This study investigated whether the consumption of this type of pornography increases the likelihood of engaging in unprotected anal sex among gay men and other men who have sex with men (MSM). The research included 1,790 Brazilian participants, and ad hoc questionnaires on pornography consumption, sexual behavior, and the Revised Attitudes Towards Gay Male Pornography Scale were used. Logistic regression analyses demonstrated that frequent exposure to bareback pornography and a preference for it increased the likelihood of engaging in unprotected anal sex and having a history of sexually transmitted infections. The frequency of bareback consumption partially mediated the relationship between favorable attitudes toward bareback and condom use. The results highlighted the importance of public health interventions addressing the influence of pornography on sexual practices.
