This paper describes the psychometric qualities of the People Management Inventory (Ingepe), and discusses the implications for the field of people management. Ingepe was created to measure work values concerning the relationship between management models and the workers cognitive development. It was applied to 826 students of the Business Management, Accountancy, Law, History and Modern Languages courses of a college in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte. Only data of participants who answered all the items were analyzed. Procedures of exploratory factorial analysis, main components method and main axes method, scree test, eigenvalues greater than one, maximum likelihood, parallel analysis by permutation and oblimin rotation were employed. The results indicate that Ingepe is capable of measuring three dimensions of work values: taylorist values, humanist values and profit maximization values.
