MEDEIROS, Ana Paula; MISHIMA-GOMES, Fernanda Kimie Tavares e BARBIERI, Valéria. Familiar bonds of a child with pre-psychotic personality structure. Rev. SPAGESP [online]. 2011, vol.12, n.2, pp.34-43. ISSN 1677-2970.
Children depend upon physical and emotional care provided, above all by the family, in order to adequately reach affective and social development. Moreover, their personality structure is influenced by environmental experiences and hereditary potential. Thus, psychotic personality structure can be characterized by precocious frustrations in one’s development which are strongly related to familiar bonds. This work aims to present a case of a seven-year- old-child, based on a screening process for children in a clinical school at a public university. His mother sought for support complaining about aggressive outbursts and memory loss. Throughout the process, it was outlined that Rafael has got a pre-psychotic personality, with difficulty in contact with reality and splitting as the main symptoms. The diagnosis was based on Bergeret’s theoretical model. He experienced deprivation of affection on his mother’s side and had a very strained relationship with his father. In addition, both parents desired him to behave like an adult. The child demonstrated the necessity to fully express his spontaneous gestures, aggressiveness and love in an adequate space in order to enhance his emotional development.
