The objective was to conduct a survey of the techniques and practices that can be adopted in a hospital environment relating to the psychological care of patients who cannot communicate by speech due to tracheotomy or casing. Both procedures specifically assist patients hospitalized in Intensive Care Units (ICU) with, among other problems: Respiration, and the ingestion of food and medicine. However, these procedures hinder or affect a patient's aphasia. By means of bibliographic investigation, an answer was sought to the question of how psychological care for these patients could best be had. It was concluded that the psychologist can adapt various techniques, especially by resorting to creativity and working along multi and interdisciplinary lines.
