Resumen

MOURA, Maíra Roberta Santos  y  OLIVEIRA, Mirian Akiko Furutani de. COUNTERTRANSFERENCE WITH A CHRONIC PATIENT: A LOOK AT THIS RELATIONSHIP. Psicol. hosp. (São Paulo) [online]. 2019, vol.17, n.2, pp.42-63.  Epub 30-Jun-2025. ISSN 2175-3547.  https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.15283468.

This study aimed to understand the influence of countertransference on the psychotherapy process with a chronic patient, in this case, an adult woman diagnosed with Atopic Dermatitis. The treatment of these patients may interfere in the therapeutic conduct and generate various feelings in the psychologist. To evaluate countertransference, we used the Rating Scale for Countertransference, which is a self-applicable scale that quantifies the feelings generated during a psychological care. We observed that the countertransference established influenced the analytical treatment. Proximity (24%) was the most prevalent domain in care. In total, 32% of countertransference was established by the psychologist. By analyzing her countertransference content, there was a change in her posture that reflected in the care offered to the patient, managing to involve her more effectively in her treatment process. We concluded that it is essential to look at this relationship in clinical supervision and personal analysis, so that the patient’s treatment is not guided by the therapist’s feelings.
