This article aims to report the experience of the psychology intern with groups of family companions during the child's hospitalization process. The result was built from the analysis and reading of the intern's notes in a detailed and repeated way. We sought to identify the experiences of the family companion and the coping strategies used by them during the child's hospitalization process, aiming at sharing experiences and strengthening coping resources based on the Tenda do Conto grounded methodology. It was found that Tenda do Conto, as a possible work tool for Psychology at the General Hospital, goes beyond the traditional model of clinical care, allowing collective and individual actions, always developed in a contextualized manner.
